Do you have a favorite pair of shoes? You know the ones that may be mistaken for a charity donation. A good pair of shoes goes a long way. And the truth is, nobody can fill these nasty old shoes but me. These are my go to shoes when I need to pop into the back yard, check the mail, or make a getaway to the beach. Nobody has walked in these shoes but me, and nobody’s walk looks the same as another’s. Are you weary from walking in the same old shoes down the same old road? Do you wish someone would walk beside you, hold your hand, stay without conditions, listen without forcing advice, and be there no matter what? Hold onto Jesus, He’ll never let go! It sounds a bit cliche…Hold onto Jesus, He’ll never let go! But Jesus is the only person who never lets me down.
HOLD ONTO JESUS, HE’LL NEVER LET GO!
If we sat down together, I bet you and I could share story after story about how our expectations of the life we thought we’d have just never materialized. Specifically, for me, the events and results of the past few years have left me shaking my head and wondering “Why?” and “How?” Scenes play over and over in my head that I cannot wrap my head around. I do not know why God has allowed such heartache and uncertainty, but He has, and it’s my job to obey when He directs and trust Him with the outcomes.
No one but Jesus knows how the burdens of change and decision making wear on me. Do you feel that way, too? I feel as if my trusty shoes might just self-destruct as I walk in the rocks mile after mile. But God…He never leaves. He is always right here. He is my rock when I have to climb boulders or dodge a pebble in my path. He alone smooths it all down with His gentle, never assuming presence. He guides my steps and is always right here to hold me when I begin to waiver. He keeps my eyes on him when I dare to look back at the pain of the past. He is kind when I doubt His goodness. He never changes. I can always count on His grace without measure. He never tires of me. Hold onto Jesus, He’ll never let go! Are you ready to hold His hand and walk with Him? Where are your shoes taking you right now?
So glad that We always hold onto him from within his aRms
